HIBISCUS RANDOM INQUIRY

Alex brought a long a picture he drew of a hibiscus flower.

' This is from my Samoan Culture.  You see these flowers in Samoa.  I have these flowers on a pillow at home'.

Alex's friends in Team 2 were so interested that they wanted to inquire more.. more.. more..

So it was off to the computers we went,  a mini inquiry it was...

We used google search to find images and information.

What did we discover????

There are so many different coloured hibiscus.

'They are so pretty' - Divya

 WOW we didn't know that....

The flower petals can be dried and then put into hot water to make Hibiscus tea.

They have funny look stuff in the middle.  It looks ticklish and like a powder.  It's called pollen or nectar and bees drink it.

Hibiscus flowers are used to decorate pillows and sheets.

Do these grow in our country?

How many different kinds are there?

DOUBLE TROUBLE - SISTERLY LOVE

Last term Mrs Aiavao invited ESOL Learners to share their sense of belonging.

Malina and Manaomia brought this gorgeous photo to share, to prove that they are PROUD to be sisters.

What culture is my language from?

Can you read or translate my message?

21st ICT JOURNEY

ONE OF OUR MAIN GOALS IN ESOL SHINING STARS IS TO USE OUR ICT TOOLS & App's TO ENGAGE AND ENHANCE OUR LEARNING.
PERENISE is our BLOG WHIZ!! He is going to make an awesome coach for others, including Mrs Aiavao.
WE HAVE BEEN LEARNING TO FIND OUR BLOG PAGE, READ AND NAVIGATE AROUND THE POSTINGS AND POST COMMENTS.

OUR NEXT STEP IS TO POST OUR LEARNING MORE OFTEN SO WE CAN SHARE OUR LEARNING WITH OUR WHANAU.

ALSO...
TO POST COMMENTS WITHOUT MRS AIAVAO'S HELP. WATCH THIS SPACE!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO READING YOUR FEEDBACK AS WE TRAVEL THIS NEW LEARNING JOURNEY.

We love our iPads.  We can use them to help us search for information as we inquire about things that catch our interest.

We are using google translate to greet in different languages.  This helped us with our introduction bubbles for our writing task.

Taine and Marshall had fun using one of the ABC app's to practice their ABC's .

FUN! FUN! FUN learning.
