CONSERVATION TERM 2 - REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

CONSERVATION TERM 2 - Learning Snippets!

.
Thank you Mrs Rihari and Whaea Donna for teaching us about 'Plastic Planet'- We were sad to see how we are destroying our planet and our sea creatures with the plastic bags we use. We learnt how we can make a big difference, by using REUSEABLE material bags to REDUCE rubbish.
What can you use instead of plastic bags, when you do grocery shopping?
Kaitiaki - guardians or caretakers of our earth.  We set up a REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE centre, sorting rubbish into the 3R's.  Now we will think before we throw things into the rubbish.  We can REUSE OR RECYCLE our rubbish to REDUCE the harm on our earth.
What can you do to REDUCE rubbish?  What else can you do to be good KAITIAKI in our world?
REDUCE - Use less, make less

REUSE -  Use again

RECYCLE - make into something new or something else!

RECYCLING FOOD SCRAPS TO GROW NEW...
We cleared all the old weeds out of our sad old mini garden.

More weeds.. can't eat these.

Preparing the soil.

Ooooooooy... Goooooey.. fun!

Bokchoy - these leaves popped out of a piece of bokchoy left over from Mrs Aiavao's dinner.  WE wonder how big it will grow?  We wonder what it will taste like? Mmmmm can't wait to try.
REUSING VEGETABLE SCRAPS TO GROW NEW VEGETABLES!!! NO WAY!!!

POTATO SKINS TO GROW NEW POTATES? HUH?

EGG SHELLS - snails enemy!!!  One slide against these sharp edges and your dust snails!
Did you know snails eat vege leaves?

KUMARA PEELINGS grow NEW KUMARA?  HUH?

Hopefully with...

water, sun, love and good clean oxygen these peelings will grow into new veges.
