The Gruffalo
Narrative - Retell

One day a teeny-tiny mouse was walking into a deep dark forest and on the way the little teeny-tiny mouse met a fox.

‘Hi Little Mouse.  Where are you going?”  “I’m going to meet a gruffalo for lunch,” said the mouse.  “What?  A gruffalo?”  “ Well let me tell you what a gruffalo is.  A gruffalo has whiskers, pointy tusks and straight fur.  His favourite food is fox ice cream.”  “Goodbye Little Mouse!” And off the fox went.

Along went the mouse and up, up, up in the trees came down an owl. “Tooohoot!  Toohoot!  Toohoot!  Where are you going to Little Mouse?”  “I’m going to meet a gruffalo for lunch.”  “A gruffalo?  What’s a gruffalo?”  “What you don’t know what a gruffalo is?  Well let me tell you.  He has feet like rocks, crookered toes, knobbly knees and his favourite food is owl pie.”  “Toohoot!  Toohoot!  I must be going now.  Goodbye Little Mouse.”

Along went the mouse and in a log there was a ssssssnake.  “Where are you going Mouse?  Come and have tea in my log house.”  “It’s kind of you.  But no! I am going to meet an old friend of mine.  His name is Gruffalo.”  “What’s a gruffalo?”  “What? You don’t know what a gruffalo is.  Let me tell you what a gruffalo is.  He has sharp tiger-like claws, terrible terrible jaws, terrible rotten teeth and his favourite food is snake hotdog.”  “Goodbye Little Mouse.”  And off the snake went!

“Oh no!  Who is this?  It’s a gruffalo.  He has pointy ears, long sharp whiskers, a long slimey tongue, pointy tusks, straight fur, wolf like tail, feet like rocks, crookered toes, knobbly knees, sharp tiger-like claws, terrible jaws, terrible rotten teeth and he eats mice!”  The mouse is stuck in the gruffalo’s stomach!  That will teach him a lesson for telling lies!
